My whole life I have always been my most comfortable when I'm able to do things that are creative. Throughout grade school my reports might have lacked technical writing but there was never a loss of illustrations. I went to college with visions of being an elementary school teacher and came out with a degree in art education.
In 2005 a new friend introduced me to the fun of stringing beads. My infatuation with glass began. I loved working with all kinds of glass beads, seed, chzeck, you name it! We attended numerous bead shows and, as always, I was drawn to the tables with scuptural lampwork beads. I chanced to meet Kate Fowle-Meleney. I thought it might be fun to learn how to make glass beads so I signed on for one of her 2-day classes. The first day I attended class I was thinking, oh this will be fun to just try out. The next morning after a night of dreaming of nothing but working with glass I realized that I had found a passion!
I am often asked why my name is "Insanity Beads". The name started out as a joke email name of InsanityMom. I have 3 boys and a menagerie of pets. I felt this best described my state of mind. Now, with my artwork, I find that I don't really follow any set course or theme. I love trying all manner of styles and color combinations. Glass is my obsession and my passion. My insanity.
